Walmart is Ditching McDonald's

Walmart and McDonald’s are ending a 30-year relationship as Walmart explores other fast food partnerships.

Walmart has offered in-store fast food options for many years through McDonald’s and Taco Bell. Until recently, there were more than 800 McDonald’s locations within Walmarts across the country.

Reasons for Fewer McDonald's Stores

– Less foot traffic in Walmart stores due to customers ordering online – McDonald’s in Walmarts are less successful since they aren’t drive-thrus – Walamrt is testing other fast food options to increase profitability

Walmart has a new partnership with Knuckies Hoagies. The Georgia brand offers specialty sandwiches and cheesesteaks. They are leading Walmart’s effort to introduce new food options to their customers.

In addition to Knuckies, Walmart has partnered with other fresh food brands like Mr. Gatti’s Pizza, Alumni Cookie Dough, and Ben’s Soft Pretzels.

The new fast food partnerships are an effort for Walmart to provide new options to their consumers and increase foot traffic in-stores. Meanwhile, McDonald’s focuses their efforts on their successful franchise locations as they battle increased inflation and changes in consumer behavior.
