If you’re a Verizon customer, you could be eligible for $100 due to a new settlement ruling that was just released. Not sure where to start? We’ve compiled everything you need to know about qualifications and the payment process. Read on to learn more.

Why Are Verizon Customers Eligible For $100 Payments?

Per MSN, Verizon has been undergoing legal steps to address a lawsuit that states that customers were victims of a ‘deceptive scheme’ led by the provider, and were charged with unfair administrative charges as a result.

The outcome of the settlement has just been released; and while Verizon denies any sort of illegal intent, they have agreed to pay possibly-affected consumers up to $100 each.

Who Qualifies For Up To $100 Cash Back?

Many Verizon customers are eligible for $100 as a result of the settlement. Per MSN, the settlement details that all Verizon customers (who are either current or former customers) can qualify, so long as they received “postpaid wireless or data services” from the company and who were “charged and paid an administrative charge (or an administrative and telco recover charge) between January 1, 2016 ad November 8, 2023.

    Do Prepaid Customers Qualify?

Prepaid customers do not qualify for payouts, per information sourced from MSN. The settlement explicitly notes “postpaid” customers, who are in contract with the provider and are billed monthly for usage. Prepaid customers pay by card instead, getting a predetermined amount of minutes or texts with each card that they purchase.

MSN notes that those who qualify are slated to receive correspondence from Verizon, either by email or by mail.

How Do Verizon Customers Claim Up To $100 Cash Back?

According to MSN, Verizon customers can access their payment by providing their ID and the confirmation code that can be found on the settlement notice — which is sent via mail and email.

After customers have those two pieces of information present, they can submit an online claim by April 15th.

Per MSN, customers can submit online via this link: https://verizonadministrativechargesettlement.com/submit-claim — However, the portal closes at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

Is Each Person Guaranteed $100 Cash Back?

While many people can claim up to $100, it is not a guaranteed amount. Per MSN, the total per-person payment amount depends on how many people opt to file a claim and get approved for their application.

Per MSN, The class action lawsuit received $100 million in the funding payout, which will be split with Verizon customers. Verizon notes that there are currently 92.7 million postpaid consumers under the independent consumer category, and 29.5 million business customers who are currently on postpaid plans. MSN estimates that minimum payments for those who are eligible will be $15.

MSN confirms that once payments have been approved by the distributing entity, customers will see them either as a check or an e-payment.
