Former President Donald Trump told Christian supporters that if they elect him this November, they “won’t have to vote anymore.”

This message stunned many, and critics were quick to question what Trump meant by saying that Christians would no longer have to vote if he wins the 2024 presidential race.

These comments from the former president came during his speech at the Turning Point USA Believers’ Summit.

Trump stated during this appearance at this event that if they vote him into a second term, “it’ll be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians.” He later added, “You don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not going to have to vote.”

Soon after it was reported that Trump made these comments, many critics began to insinuate that the former president was once again pushing for himself to become a dictator — something he has said he will be at the beginning of his term.

Trump supporters attempted to laugh off these criticisms, saying Trump didn’t mean this literally.

However, some Trump supporters have even realized how his comments may be perceived — and have tried to get the former president to clarify what he meant when he said Christians will no longer have to vote if he’s elected again.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham even gave Trump the chance to clarify his statements. Instead, Trump repeated his claims over and over again.

These weren’t the only comments Trump made during this event as he worked to get his Christian supporters out to vote.

Trump also said that he would create “a new federal task force on fighting anti-Christian bias and its mission will be to investigate all forms of illegal discrimination, harassment and persecution against Christians in America.”

These comments also come as Trump has repeatedly gone after the Democratic Party’s new presumed nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.

In recent weeks, Trump has insinuated that Harris is anti-Catholic and that she would discriminate against Christians if she is elected this November.

This has since fueled many Trump supporters in also insinuating that Harris is anti-Catholic and that she would be a bad president for Christian Americans — even though many Catholic groups have backed Harris.

One Catholic editor has even written, “She is without question one of the most aggressively anti-Catholic career politicians in American history.”

Trump has also frequently discussed God, as well as thanked Christians and their prayers, after an assassination attempt was made on his life. Many supporters have since claimed that Trump was saved by God himself, as he wears the “armor of God.”

During his speech, Trump thanked those who prayed for him, saying, “I stand before you tonight thanks to the power of prayer and the grace of almighty God.”

Many analysts have claimed that Trump is leaning into these comments, as he is trying to get as many conservative Catholics and Christians out to vote this November.

Critics of the former president have also pointed out that Trump has made many comments about how he is going to change everything and become a dictator, at least for one day, if he is reelected. Now, they believe he is trying to incite a Christian Nationalist base to support him.

Trump and his supporters have also frequently claimed that the Democratic Party and all of its left voters are against conservative Christians.

They have said that Christians have increasingly felt attacked by the left, especially when it comes to abortion and LGBTQ+ rights. Critics of Trump have stated that this isn’t true — and that the U.S. gives protections and freedoms to all, not just some.

Some analysts have pointed out that Trump’s religious rhetoric has ramped up ever since Harris entered the race.

These analysts believe that this may have to do with the fact that Harris has jumped ahead of Trump in many new polls. Now, Trump is working to get his Christian base fired up enough to vote this November.

However, many analysts and Americans around the country have experienced concern over Trump’s increasingly worrying talk about giving Christians more rights in the U.S. than others.

These comments do come as many Republican-led states have pushed for Christian religion in public schools, a movement that many Americans say violates their Constitutional rights.
