According to Reuters, Donald Trump said he would love to have Elon Musk in his government.

Musk was described as a “brilliant guy” and “smart” by the GOP nominee.

If he wins in November, former President Donald Trump wants billionaire Elon Musk to serve in his administration.

Musk previously stated that he would be interested in serving on a potential commission to improve government efficiency.

Trump offered a statement regarding the potential of appointing Musk to a cabinet or advisory position, as per Reuters.

“He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would. He’s a brilliant guy”

Musk posted an AI-generated photo on X on Monday of himself speaking at a rostrum with the caption “D.O.G.E. Department of Government Efficiency,”

This was the only post in relation to Trump’s remarks with no direct response being issued.

It would appear that the acronym is a reference to the meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin.

This cryptocurrency was previously promoted by Musk causing a spike in value.

    “Willing to Serve”

Musk wrote in the post’s caption, “I am willing to serve.”

In recent months, there have been a lot of rumors about Musk joining a second Trump administration.

    Refuting Speculation

The Wall Street Journal reported in May that Musk had discussed joining Trump’s government with him.

Musk stated in an X post that “there have not been any discussions of a role for me in a potential Trump Presidency” to refute The Journal’s report.

    Softening Approach

However, it appears that Musk has softened his approach to working for a possible Trump administration.

Musk stated that if Trump is elected president again, he would be eager to serve on a potential government efficiency commission during his live stream with Trump last week.

During the interview with Trump, Musk stated, “I think it would be great to just have a government efficiency commission that takes a look at these things and just ensures that the taxpayers’ hard-earned money is spent in a good way.”

Musk went on to say, “I’d be happy to help out on such a commission.”

    Other Major Figures

Trump replied to the proposal of Musk being involved with a government efficiency commission with “I’d love it.”

Trump has been considering other major figures publicly for his Cabinet besides Musk.

    Treasury Secretary

Casa Rosada (Argentina Presidency of the Nation)

Trump made a statement to Bloomberg Businessweek in July about Jamie Dimon.

The CEO of JPMorgan Chase, “is somebody that I would consider” for the position of treasury secretary, Trump stated.

    Cabinet Futures

Trump walked back the statement hinting at Dimon’s potential Cabinet future a week later, however.

In a July 23 Truth Social post, the former president stated that he “never discussed, or thought of” having Dimon serve as his treasury secretary.

Following the live stream between Musk and Trump, what role the former will play in the latter’s bid for President remains to be seen.
