Controversy in Florida: Fake Voter Guide Rocks Political Scene

By: Georgia | Published: Aug 19, 2024

In St. Johns County, Florida, just before the GOP primary, residents received a voter guide in their mailboxes that turned out to be counterfeit.

Denver Cook, the local GOP Chair, was taken aback by the discovery. “I saw the card, and I’m like, this is a real issue,” he told ABC News.

Details of the Deception

The counterfeit voter guide resembled official materials, using similar thickness, color schemes, and fonts as those distributed by the local Republican party in June.

However, it falsely claimed to be the “official 2024 membership-approved endorsements” and listed different candidates from those the party supported, according to ABC News.
