Ergonomic vs. Racing-Style

Racing-style chairs (bucket seat, bold stitching) prioritise looks; ergonomic-first designs prioritise adjustability — lumbar depth, armrest angles, recline range. If you sit 6+ hours a day, prioritise ergonomics over aesthetics.

Weight Capacity and Big & Tall Sizing

Standard listings are usually rated for up to ~150kg (330lbs), but several brands offer dedicated "Big and Tall" versions with reinforced frames and wider seats — check this explicitly if you're above average size, since a chair rated at the edge of its capacity wears out much faster.

Recline Range and Footrests

Recline angles vary from a modest 135° up to a near-flat 165°. A built-in footrest turns a gaming chair into a genuine recliner for breaks — useful if you also use the chair for console gaming from further back.

Material: PU Leather vs. Fabric

PU leather looks the part but can crack and get warm over long sessions; fabric breathes better and ages more gracefully, though it shows wear differently. Neither is objectively better — it's a genuine tradeoff between look and long-session comfort.

Review Volume as a Durability Signal

Foam and upholstery quality is hard to judge from photos. A chair with thousands of reviews sustained over time is a much stronger durability signal than a new listing with a handful of 5-star reviews.
