House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went on Instagram Live early on Friday morning to share a serious warning about the Democratic Party and their attempt to kick President Joe Biden off of 2024’s presidential ticket.
According to the progressive House Democrat, many of the Democrats calling for Biden to step down are saying completely different things when they are behind closed doors.
Biden Faces Pressure to Step Down
Ever since Biden participated in a debate against former President Donald Trump, he has faced calls to step down from the presidential race. Biden’s debate performance shocked many Democrats, as he appeared to incoherently answer some questions.
His poor debate performance has since led to many in the media — and from those within his own party — asking about his mental acuity.
Will Kamala Harris Run for President?
Amid many private and public calls for Biden to step down, many have questioned who will run in his place. Various analysts have pointed to the thought that Vice President Kamala Harris could take his spot, which makes sense to many.
As a result, many polls have recently been conducted to see how the Vice President would perform in an election against Trump.
AOC’s Warning
However, Ocasio-Cortez has recently come out to warn Democratic voters that Harris may not end up running at all if Biden does step down.
Ocasio-Cortez took to Instagram Live on Friday morning to explain exactly what she’s hearing behind closed doors. The Democrat also took the time to slam her colleagues for speaking anonymously to the press.
No Support for Biden or Harris
According to Ocasio-Cortez, the people who want Biden off the Democratic presidential ticket also want Harris off, too.
She said, “If you think that there is consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave … that they will support, Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken.”
Removing the Entire Ticket
Ocasio-Cortez further stated that many of these Democratic lawmakers, as well as donors, want to remove the entire ticket.
“A lot of them are not just interested in removing the president. They are interested in removing the whole ticket,” she explained.
AOC Slams Democrats
The Representative also took the time to slam some of her colleagues, as she doesn’t believe it’s right for them to say different things off the record than what they’re saying to the public.
She stated, “If they’re going to come out and say all their little things on background, off the record, but they’re not going to be fully honest, I’m going to be honest for them. I’m in these rooms. I see what they say in conversations.”
Will Biden Win?
Ocasio-Cortez didn’t say that she believed Biden would win against Trump. However, she said it will be a battle no matter who goes up against the former president.
“I’m not here to tell you that if Joe Biden is the nominee, he’s definitely going to win because I don’t think if anybody is the nominee, we’re definitely going to win,” she said.
AOC Blames the Elites
Ocasio-Cortez put the ultimate blame on the elites and the donor class of the Democratic party, as she has said that they are the ones pushing for Biden to step down — something she disagrees with.
She explained, “I’m here to tell you that a huge amount of the donor class and a huge amount of these elites and a huge amount of these folks in these rooms that I see that are pushing for President Biden to not be the nominee also are not interested in seeing the Vice President being the nominee.”
A Warning About Another Trump Term
Ocasio-Cortez also took the time to warn Democrats who want Biden off the ticket, as she believes they’re not thinking of voters in communities such as hers.
She added, “My community does not have the option to lose.”
Another Sign of Democrat Infighting
This latest Instagram Live video of Ocasio-Cortez further shows how the Democratic Party is continuing to fight with each other over whether or not Biden should step down from the presidential ticket.
Ocasio-Cortez has stood by Biden’s side through this entire ordeal. Previously, she even blasted her colleagues for giving anonymous quotes to the media and insinuating that they are resigned to losing to Trump.
Biden May Exit the Race
Conflicting reporting has come out about Biden in the last few days. While Biden has publicly claimed he is staying in the race, new reports have indicated he is becoming more resigned to possibly stepping down.
Many Democrat lawmakers have called for him to exit, as they are worried that he won’t win the presidential race against Trump.
