Businessman Kevin O’Leary has recently likened Vice President Kamala Harris to Hillary Clinton.

O’Leary further insinuated that this could end up being a huge problem for the Democratic Party as a whole, especially if Harris loses the presidential election to former President Donald Trump as Clinton previously did.

During an appearance on Fox News, O’Leary explained that there are a lot of similarities between Harris and Clinton.

Most notably, the Shark Tank investor insisted that Harris and Clinton were both anointed by the Democratic Party, suggesting that regular Democrat voters didn’t choose them.

Harris became the presumptive presidential nominee for the Democratic Party only a few weeks ago when President Joe Biden officially dropped out of the race.

Instead of letting various people throw their hat into the ring to take his place, Biden immediately endorsed Harris. Many other leading Democrats quickly rallied around Harris. Now, Harris is the official nominee for the Democrats after accepting their nomination at the DNC.

O’Leary stated that these moves by the Democratic Party may end up costing Harris the election.

He said, “If in fact, Harris loses — and it’s 50-50, she may win, she may lose — this whole party, the Democratic Party, is going to revisit what happened here.”

O’Leary then added that the Democratic Party was forced to rethink everything after Clinton lost to Trump in 2016.

“They did the same thing with Hillary Clinton,” he stated.

According to O’Leary, if Harris loses this election to Trump, then he thinks that the Democratic Party will “never do this to itself again.”

He explained that they’ve done similar situations — and reflections — during the choosing of Clinton against Trump, as well as when Clinton lost to the former president.

O’Leary then compared this entire process to his business.

“I’m not saying she’s going to lose, but I would have never let that happen,” he explained. “If I’m selling a business, I tell my managers, never bring me one offer, bring me a process. Show me there’s no other bid out there that I want. Then I’ll make my decision if I’m selling.”

    Critics Attack Harris’ Nomination

Ever since Biden dropped out of the race, many critics — mostly conservatives and Republicans — have criticized the easy acceptance of Harris.

Now that she has officially been nominated as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, these detractors still have issues with the process, as they insinuate that she was crowned by the party, rather than elected.

    A Coup?

These critics have even gone so far as to state that certain members of the Democratic Party successfully pulled off a “coup” by allowing her to take Biden’s place.

These analysts believe that leading members of the party no longer wanted Biden and pushed for someone like Harris to take his place. However, many Democrats have fought back against this idea.

O’Leary has speculated over why Harris was chosen. He also stated that he was completely surprised that other leading Democrats, such as California Governor Gavin Newsom, didn’t fight for the nomination.

Before Biden officially dropped out of the race, many political analysts believed that someone like Newsom could easily take his place. However, Newsom quickly backed Harris.

    Was Choosing Harris a Mistake?

O’Leary then suggested that choosing Harris could have been a huge mistake for the party, especially if they end up losing to Trump.

“There may have been other candidates or [Harris] could have emerged much stronger but they didn’t do that,” he said. “That may prove to be a huge mistake.”

Harris’ Campaign Continues to Gain Momentum

Though O’Leary has warned Democrats over these moves, reporting has shown that the party has united under Harris’ nomination and leadership. Her campaign is continuing to gain momentum as we near November.

While all polls differ, many have also shown that Harris has gained in many regions, and now leads Trump in some key battleground states.
